‘The MacNab’ the Ultimate Hunting Experience
THE HO– USE OF TURIN, LUXURY 5* MANSION IN THE HEART OF SCOTLAND
The House of Turin is a luxurious, Five Star exclusive-use country mansion in the heart of Scotland. Midway between Edinburgh and Aberdeen, surrounded by the scenic Angus Glens, it is the perfect place to retreat from the rush of everyday life and surrender to lush, unspoiled countryside.
An authentic Scottish hideaway, The House of Turin is luxuriously spacious, sleeping up to 20 guests in ten beautifully appointed rooms, yet retains an intimate and boutique feel. Elegantly designed with an opulent mixture of traditional and contemporary aesthetics throughout – from roaring fires to mini claw foot baths to four-poster suites to the gorgeous warming aga stove to rooms outfitted with Clive Christian furniture, not to mention the private pool – every detail has been lovingly hand-picked to the highest quality, ensuring a completely sumptuous experience during your stay.
Steeped in history, The House of Turin was built in 1659 then devotedly relocated – stone by stone – in 1907, nestled in twenty acres of private grounds that could be yours to explore. The combination of dramatic, breath-taking views and the grand-yet-homely house provides endless inspiration. This beautiful getaway aside the formalities of hotel and invites guests to completely unwind during their stay, with the option for self-catering or full-catering, as well as a range of options for bespoke dining experiences.
A sophisticated setting for any event, the in-house team at The House of Turin are delighted to work with you, putting their expert local knowledge and extensive event experience to use.
The House of Turin is within easy access of many excellent Hunting Estates, over 100 golf courses, including championship courses such as Carnoustie (20 minutes drive), the iconic St Andrews, Clay Pigeon shooting, Land Rover safaris, Mountain biking, whisky tasting, falconry and of course shopping expeditions to nearby Edinburgh for the non shooters in the group. We can arrange for a private Gala Dinner in the Royal Dining Room at the historic Glamis Castle, home of the Mother of the current Queen of England.
“The MacNab Experience”
The Ultimate Challenge in Scottish Field Sports
The sport of gentlemen – the exclusive ‘MacNab Club’ – to become a member you must rise to the challenge and be able to stalk a Red Stag, shoot a Grouse and catch a Salmon all within one day.
This is not for the faint hearted and we promise you an experience like no other!
The challenge is derived from the famous Scottish Novel by John Buchan “John MacNab”
Your day will begin at dawn, collection by four wheel drive from the House of Turin and straight to the river with an experienced ghillie to catch a Salmon on a beat close to the property.
Your ghillie will be at your disposal throughout the day from dawn to dusk so that you can return to the river after you shoot the Stag and the Grouse if you still have not caught a fish.
The Salmon can be the hardest part of the MacNab to catch so we recommend starting at dawn.
You will then be transported to the heather covered moors to stalk a Red Stag and finally to get your Grouse, under the guidance of your personal highly trained Stalker and Gamekeeper.
* Back to the river if you have yet to catch the Salmon to complete your Challenge
- Personal Ghillie, Stalker and Gamekeeper throughout
- Rifle, Shotgun and ammunition
- Stag up to 11 point – 12 pointer may incur extra charges
- Licences, Fishing Permit, rods reels and permit hire
- Riverside Lunch and if successful the ‘MacNab Certificate
- Accommodation at ‘House of Turin’ (All meals included at House of Turin unless specified)
- Private dinner at the exclusive Glamis Castle
- Dinner at St Andrews
Shooting and Stalking Experiences
We work with several neighbouring Estates all on the doorstep of your accommodation and we tailor each experience at the time of your enquiry and depending on the game season (see below for an overview).
You will be collected from the property at dawn and will spend the day on the glorious heather Glens of Angus with stunning views of the Highlands and beyond.
Should you wish to include tuition before you embark on a driven shoot on the moors we can arrange a training session at the nearby Scottish Clay Pigeon Centre where you will receive a morning of one to one training on gun handling, safety and target practice.
